I know it's mostly a matter of personal preference but what editor would you suggest for beginners and why?
Personally I was using WinEdt for years and a couple of years ago "converted" to TeXstudio, but before just telling people "use this one!", if anyone has experience teaching maybe you know what's best to start learning. Thanks! :)

I always recommend TeXworks to beginners, because that allows them to focus on the necessary basics and does not obfuscate error messages. But as you said, it is a very personal choice…
