It seems insane that Arxiv doesn't support XeTeX. One would think it would be easy to, in the submission process, allow the user to select a compiler to always use for this document. Overleaf does this just fine.
Anyway, I've got a doc that was written using the mathspec package. I did lot's of contrived things to get it appearing the way I liked (custom fonts for the main body, alternative font for all numbers, modifying a few math mode characters), and the idea of trying to make it all compatible with pdfLaTeX is horrifying!
I suppose I'm just looking to commiserate, but some advice would be nice as well (Other than "don't make such a stupid decision again" :P). Are there any ways to make the doc pdfLaTeX compatible that is minimally laborious?
