Recently, my options to zoom in/out are greyed out in TexShop when I am using anything but an empty document. My solution is to cut everything in my document to my clipboard, and then use the standard zoom shortcuts, and then paste the Tex back into the document viewer. This results in a properly zoomed document, but it requires many extraneous steps not needed before for reasons I do not understand. Can anyone provide any insight into this issue?
Thanks,
Nakul

I have the same problem. Here's a somewhat shorter workaround that worked for TexShop 4.10:
In Preferences > Source > Document font > Set..., I was able to use the normal magnification key command ("Command =" on MacOS) to increase the size of the sample text that says "Type sample text here. Use several lines to test interline spacing."
I emphasize that this doesn't fix the grayed-out Preview menu items.
